About Lauren

Lauren’s practice is built on a straightforward belief: a good family lawyer has to do more than know the law. You have to understand your client, understand what actually matters to them, and have a strategy for getting them to the other side.

She is an experienced litigator — comfortable and prepared in a courtroom when that’s where a case needs to go. But she also brings the judgement to recognize when litigation is the right tool and when it isn’t. Her job, as she sees it, is to help clients separate what’s important from what’s just noise, and to protect the things that matter most: their children, their financial security, and their future.

Lauren’s Approach to Family Law

Divorce can feel intensely personal and, at times, overwhelming.

Lauren’s goal is to make sure her clients never feel like they have to figure it out alone.

When you work with Lauren, you can expect:

  • A clear strategy from the start. Every case is different. Lauren takes the time to understand your specific situation and what a successful outcome actually looks like for you.
  • Honest, direct communication. You’ll know where things stand, what your options are, and what to expect at each stage of your case.
  • Litigation experience when it counts. Lauren is a trained litigator prepared to go to court and advocate for you—without manufacturing conflict when it isn’t necessary.
  • Focus on what matters. Not every issue in a divorce is worth fighting over. Lauren helps clients make thoughtful, strategic decisions about where to put their energy and resources.
  • A plan. When you leave that first meeting, you’ll have a clearer picture of what comes next — and a path forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lauren handles a broad range of family law matters, including contested and uncontested divorce, child custody and visitation, child support, alimony, property division, and protective orders. She is a family lawyer that represents clients in both negotiated settlements and fully litigated proceedings in Maryland courts.

Yes. Lauren is an experienced courtroom litigator who is fully prepared to try a case when that is the right path. At the same time, she exercises careful judgment about when litigation serves her client’s interests — and when a negotiated or mediated resolution may be more effective and less costly.

Lauren practices family law throughout Maryland. Divorce With a Plan has offices in Baltimore and Rockville, and the firm serves clients across the state, including Baltimore County, Montgomery County, Howard County, and surrounding areas.

The terms are often used interchangeably. A family law attorney handles divorce, but also custody disputes, child support, alimony, property division, and protective orders — before, during, and after a divorce. If your situation involves any of these issues, consulting a family law attorney is the right starting point.

Even in an uncontested divorce, having an attorney review any agreement before you sign it is strongly advisable. Property division, retirement accounts, and custody arrangements involve legal complexities that can have long-term consequences. A family law attorney can make sure the agreement actually says what you intend — and holds up in court.

In an uncontested divorce, both spouses agree on all major issues — property, custody, support — before filing. In a contested divorce, one or more issues remain in dispute and may require court intervention to resolve. Lauren handles both, and she can help you understand which path makes sense given your circumstances.

Look for someone with direct family law experience, clear communication, and a strategy that fits your situation — not a one-size-fits-all approach. You want an attorney who will be honest about your options, realistic about outcomes, and focused on the issues that actually matter to your case. A consultation is a good way to assess the fit.

Divorce With a Plan is built on the idea that divorce is a process that can be managed thoughtfully — not just endured. Every client gets a strategy tailored to their specific situation. The goal is to protect what matters most — your children, your financial security, and your future — and reach the other side with a clear head and sound decisions behind you.

Yes. Post-judgment matters — such as modifications to custody arrangements, child support adjustments, or enforcement of court orders — are a significant part of family law practice. If your circumstances have changed since your divorce was finalized, Lauren can help you understand your options.

It helps to bring any relevant documents you have access to — financial statements, prior court orders, correspondence related to your case — and a clear sense of your priorities. You don’t need to have everything figured out. Lauren’s job in that first meeting is to help you make sense of where you are and what comes next.
